What is tank and silo cleaning?

Tank and silo cleaning is the process of removing dirt, debris, and other contaminants from the inside of tanks and silos. These structures are used to store a variety of materials, such as liquids, gases, and powders, and they can become contaminated over time due to the buildup of material, corrosion, or other factors.

It is important to properly plan and execute tank and silo cleaning, to minimise the risk of injury, and to ensure that the stored materials are safe and can be used.

Why is tank and silo cleaning important?

Cleaning tanks and silos is necessary to maintain the integrity of the structure and to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the stored materials. It is also important to remove all the material that are not supposed to be there as they could cause blockages, corrosion, and other problems.

Types of silo and tank cleaning

There are several methods for cleaning tanks and silos, depending on the type of material being stored and the degree of contamination. Some of the most common methods include:

  • High-pressure water blasting: Using high-pressure water jets to remove dirt and debris from the inside of the tank or silo.
  • Vacuum cleaning: Using industrial vacuums to remove loose material and debris from the inside of the tank or silo.
  • Chemical cleaning: Using chemicals to dissolve or loosen contaminants, and then uses mechanical or high-pressure water methods to remove them.
  • Manual cleaning: Using manual tools such as scrapers, brooms and brushes to remove dirt and debris from the inside of the tank or silo.
